How to measure your trailer
Whether you're ordering a part or sourcing a replacement trailer, these are the numbers we'll ask for.

Diagram
Know the right numbers
Use the reference diagram to identify the measurements we need to order parts or quote a repair. If you'd rather snap a photo, text it to 605.335.8934 and we'll take it from there.
- • Tire size (e.g. ST225/75R15)
- • Bolt pattern (e.g. 6 on 5.5")
- • Hub face / spindle diameter
- • Ball size & coupler size
- • Axle capacity (3,500# / 5,200# / 7,000#)
The basics
Six measurements that matter
01
Tongue length
Measure from the coupler to the front of the trailer frame. This affects how the trailer tracks behind your truck.
02
Deck length & width
Measure the usable cargo area — front-to-back and side-to-side. Don't include the tongue.
03
Wheel base & axle spacing
Center-to-center on the axles. Critical when ordering springs, equalizers and U-bolts.
04
Tire & wheel size
Note the tire size (e.g. ST225/75R15) and wheel bolt pattern (e.g. 6 on 5.5").
05
GVWR & axle rating
Found on the trailer's VIN tag. Tells us what brakes, hubs and springs are compatible.
06
Snap a photo
When in doubt, photograph the trailer and the part. Text it to us and we'll match it.
Stuck? Text us a photo at 605.335.8934 — we've identified more parts from blurry phone pictures than we can count.
